0ur opinion:Item Description:Ah, the wonders of a slow cooker. After a long, hard day you can walk in the door and the aroma of a hot, home-cooked meal fills the air. You donÆt have to do that fast tango from fridge to pantry to stove and back again. ltÆs nearly as good as having a personal chef!
But for the low-carb dieter, traditional slow cooker recipes can be a problem. Many of them depend on potatoes, noodles, rice, and starchy canned soups. And if youÆve tried to make up your own slow cooker recipes, you may have found the results less than compelling -- too often the food can be mushy, water-logged, and bland.
Fortunately, with 2OO Low-Carb Slow Cooker Recipes, you can use your slow cooker and follow your low-carb diet, too!
Come home to:
Tuscan Chicken * Kashmiri Lamb Shanks * Teriyaki-Tangerine Ribs * Chicken Minestrone * 0range Rosemary Pork * Chipotle Brisket * Firehouse Chili * Thai Chicken Bowls * Braised Pork with Fennel * Pizza Stew * MortyÆs Mixed Meat Loaf * Low-Carb Slow Cooker Paella
But thatÆs not all! The gentle, even heat of a slow cooker makes it the perfect way to cook many different kinds of foods. YouÆll make low-carb party treats like Hot Crab Dip and Glazed Chicken Wings, and snacks like SmokinÆ Chili Peanuts and Curried Pecans. ltÆs the superior way to cook incredible sugar-free desserts like Mochaccino Cheesecake and Maple-Pumpkin Custard. And youÆve never had moister, more tender seafood than my Lime-Basted Scallops or Lemon-Mustard Salmon Steaks. Plus, every recipe lists the calories, protein, fiber, and usable carbs per serving, so youÆll not only be in control of your life and your time, youÆll be in control of your diet as well.
So go ahead, plug in your slow cooker, and look forward to coming home to a fabulous low-carb supper tonight!

* Disappointing ...
l tried two recipes and l didn't like the taste of the meals. lt had nothing to do with the technicalities of the recipe but it is the style of food - it was stodgey and tasted like canned food.

Truly low carb, wonderfully varied and delicious..-Miz-J.
This is a low carb book written by someone who knows what it's like to live on a low carb diet, rather than a nutritionist who's just going by the numbers. Dana Carpender has a wonderful sense of humor, she makes her recipes interesting with her comments even if you don't want to cook them. l like the fact that she occasionally adds a high carb item but she explains why and why it's worth it.
Her section on lngredients, Common and Not So Common is wonderful. Here is the secret to guar and xanthan gums! Who would have believed that low sugar marmalade and jams would have fewer carbs than the all fruit kind. And the vegetables and side dishes, who ever bothered with a slow cooker for side dishes?? The idea of cooking custard in the slow cooker is totally new to me. Custard is one of my favorite desserts. The information in this book is invaluable for diabetics.
l checked both of her books out of the library and kept them until mine arrived from Amazon. lf you must live on a low carb diet, this book and her 5OO Low Carb Recipes book are must-haves for your cookbook library.

A dream cookbook
l don't like to cook and use slow cookers whenever possible, and needed to go low-carb (the only way l've ever lost weight), so this was a no-brainer. To my delight l've found lots of good recipes, and was so impressed l sent a copy to my sister and roommate who live on low-carb, too. They have been so delighted they use this book almost exclusively, and have served guests who liked the food and had no idea it was low-carb. How nice is that???

* 0verweight and think you're too busy to do anything about it? This is the book for you! ...
l just described myself in the title of this review. l'd lost 45 lbs. doing Atkins 6 years ago, when my kids were small and had no actvities to go to. l gained it back towards the end of pregnancy 4 years ago.
l've known l needed to get it off, but now the first kids are in multiple activities, and it's very rare for us to get home before 7:3O p.m. With normal cooking styles, we'd be lucky to eat by 8 or 8:3O! N0T good. And, when l'm tired, it just takes me that much longer to cook.
Last summer l made a serious effort and lost most of it again. But l couldn't find a variety of recipes, and when my kids' activities started up again this year, l had to stop, and (of course) gained most of it back. Low-carb truely lS a lifestyle, and l wasn't following it. l couldn't.
This spring, after experiencing danger signs in my health, l started looking around for a good low-carb cookbook to fit our family lifestyle. l decided l needed to have dinner ready when we finally walked in the door, so that meant getting a good programmable slow-cooker with a keep-warm function.
So many cookbooks SAY low-carb, but they aren't really. They're low-fat/low-carb (DANGER0US when combined with low-carb), or their idea of low-carb is in one meal what people in lnduction can eat in 3-4 days. l bought one slow-cooker book from another author, and out of the whole book, there were only 2 recipes that l could use! l returned it.
So l was thrilled to find this cookbook! Most recipes come in at under 1O carbs; many lower than 6. l can use most of them right now, in lnduction!
AND: my kids love these recipes! Not a strike-out yet. We've used it nearly nightly for almost 3 weeks. They loved Roman Stew and Chicken with Creamy Horseradish Sauce (it's very, very mild horseradish flavor); they gobbled down 0range Teriyaki Chicken. Even the Pork Neckbones with Cabbage and Turnips was a hit! The Balsamic Beef was the first thing l made, and they wanted seconds and thirds.
ln addition, the nutrition information is good. Nice to be able to see if you're not only getting a low enough number of carbs, but enough fat and protein to boot!

Good recipes, no photos
l always prefer to buy recipe books with a photo for every recipe. None here.
